Worst/best monster ever

 Prologue:

This is a short story about a flea it is inspired by the Black Death

The town people had been missing for weeks but they had bigger problems. A plague was spreading across town killing off the residents one by one. They could not dig the graves fast enough. The infected people got big boils everywhere and they had painful burns on the skin. And the infected were known for taking their lives because of the pain.

The virus arrived on the merchant ships by the rats in the cargo bays. With the fleas on their backs the fleas would bite the legs of the crew. The fleas would leave the ships and spread through the towns. Once the fleas bit, the infection would spread into the lungs and respiratory system. It would make it’s way to the brain and would slowly eat the brain cells. It would also take control of your blood cells when that happens the infected would cough up black blood. The town people that are not infected were afraid.

Habitat:

On human’s skin, towns, heavily populated areas.

What it eats:

Drinks human blood.

What it looks like:

Up close it has three eyes and 4 legs and claws with teeth.

What it’s predators are:

Its predators are an extinct species of bird that eats them, but they were hunted by the humans. So, they have no predators but there’s rumours that a few are still alive in the wild jungle, but no one has ever survived the jungle.

How it succeeds in environment:

The fleas feed on the body and it spreads in markets and big cities faster. People take refuge in the churches but would spread faster feeding on their bodies. It can only survive by eating the brain cells of the people, pets are not able to get sick because the fleas need the human body and brain to survive. The pets do not have the necessary nutrients the fleas need. So, the fleas can not survive in the wild it needs human that is why small towns do not have that many infected as big, populated communities. Farmers never get infected because they are not in town, and farms are far away so they can grow without being infected. Farmers refuse to go to towns where the fleas are. When a town is hit, it runs out of food and people are starving to death and dying from the disease.
